Our club members are dedicated people who share a passion for community service and friendship.

Our 1.2 million-member organization started with the vision of one man—Paul P. Harris. The Chicago attorney formed one of the world’s first service organizations, the Rotary Club of Chicago, on 23 February 1905 as a place where professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Rotary’s name came from the group’s early practice of rotating meetings among the offices of each member.

Announcements & updates.
 
Pic a card 50/50
If you haven’t been to a meeting since we started a fun new 50/50, you should come and check it out. The 50/50 pot continues to roll over till someone picks the Jack of Diamonds from a dwindling deck of cards. Each meeting, the ticket winner draws a card. If it’s not the Jack of diamonds, it’s ripped up, and the 50/50 money rolls over to the next meeting.
 
April was busy, busy! Honesdale Rotarians participated in:
  • A Lacawac joint service day that was  a success!  Jim, Lisa, Eiji, Jim Hamil, & myself painted, put tables together & helped together to spruce up. Thank you to everyone that was able to attend and participate!
  • An Adopt a Hwy clean up on Earth Day, April 22nd. Special thanks to Stephen Moulton  for heading that up, and all the volunteers that pitched in!
  • On April 30th, A VIP shower fund raiser was organized & run by Alycia Schwartz. It had baskets, prizes, and most of all, funds & needed items were collected for this vital program. Thank you so much Alycia!
Announcements/discussion:
  • Grant training was held in person & a virtual training.  Now we are eligible  to apply for district grants.
  • RYLA: We have 5 interact students attending! Great news Lynn!
  • Tickets to sell for Balls Away Interact fundraiser were sold out. Thank you to all that purchased and sold tickets!
  • Message From Betty:      
    • AMBA is set for Nov. 11th
    • Oct. blood drive is on, just need to schedule the date
  • Roots and Rhythm is June 17th.   Bob Schwartz is Chairperson. We need all hands on deck for this annual event!
    • Bob is having a meeting at his house, (the Schwartz's 25 Prompton View in Prompton) on May 10, @ 6:30 pm for organizing  & planning. If you can attend, please text him @ 570-947-7747, or email at  robert.schwartz@lpl.com.
  • Date and place of Installation Dinner for Dana Scott is June 20th @ Woodloch.  Please make plans to join us! More Details to follow.
  • Club meeting day and place….we’re working on finding a different place.
    • Some places discussed: the new brewery (old Irving Cliff brewery), Honesdale Golf Club to name a few). Still deciding.
  • Sept beer & wine fest:  committee updates
    • Exciting updates, there are sponsorships coming in, all wineries and food trucks are booked. 
    • Come and join us to find out how you can help in the meetings in May!

  • May 9th, 12:00, speaker will be Danielle Dietz from the American Red Cross
  • May 10th, 6:30. Roots & Rhythm Meeting @ Bob & Alycia’s house
  • May 23rd, 5:30. night meeting Essay winners from Interact & a 2nd speaker, to be announced.
  • June 17th, Roots & Rhythm Beer Stand. Volunteers needed!
  • June 20th, Installation dinner @ Woodloch
